Levan Davitashvili and Vasil Gedevanishvili met IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano

Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia and Vasil Gedevanishvili the head of ANRS met IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano. The theme of the meeting was development of co-operation.
In the framework of cooperation with International Agency, nuclear and radiation safety in Georgia will be developed and human and environment protection from harmful radiation will get more effective.
The visit of IAEA Director General Yukiya Amano in Georgia is a confirmation of support in the reforms taken in nuclear and radiation safety in Georgia.
As Levan Davitashvili, the Minister of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia mentioned the help provided by International Agency includes financial support as well as expert knowledge support, which means getting closer to the international standards in the framework of nuclear and radiation safety.
 “It’s a first visit of IAEA Director General in Georgia, it’s a very important and I may say it is some kind of confirmation of the progress, which we have in the field of atomic, radiation and nuclear safety. In 2016 ANRS was formed, which implements the 15 year strategy approved by government. We have significiant results in radioactive waste manegment and processing, but in the future we will have many other challenges in which, I think the help of international agency will be important.” – decleard Levan Davitashvili.
Maka Bochorishvili, Embassy of Georgia to the Republic of Austria permanent mission of Georgia to the OSCE and other International Organizations in Vienna was attending the meeting in the ministry of Environment Protection and Agriculture of Georgia.
